I’m Kaj and this is my blog.

I’m an educator, author and teacher trainer based in Tokyo with a passion for building better ways to learn.

Currently, I’m helping launch Dalton X High School, a brand new hybrid school based on the innovative Minerva University and Dalton School models.

Previously, I was director of the international department at Suma Gakuen in Kobe, Japan, where I ran one of the largest secondary school global programs in the world, with over 500 students simultaneously traveling to over 20 cities across multiple continents and participating in exchanges with nearly a dozen schools along the way. While at Suma Gakuen, I also helped launch one of the earliest CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) programs in Japan, blending multimedia literacy with subject literacy in science, math and history.

I’ve always been fascinated by how innovations in technology can connect to great teaching—a journey that started back when I was developing early digital multimedia prototypes for Cambridge University Press over two decades ago.

Outside of the classroom, I run workshops and webinars across Asia on student-centered learning, CLIL and early literacy. In addition to being an educator and teacher trainer, I am also an author and have written global bestselling books for Oxford University Press, National Geographic Learning, Macmillan, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and other major publishers.

I also have a deep interest in the possibilities of social VR and digital asset creation as the next frontier for interactive learning.

I started this blog to share what I’m learning about the future of school, curriculum design, and the tools that make it all possible.

I’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re a teacher looking for new strategies, a parent navigating the world of hybrid schooling, or a student ready to take the lead in your own education, let’s connect.
